Providing a high level of security for Internet customers
was a major consideration when building IconCMO+. Data
security had to be defineable by the customers so they could
control who had access to the information and the type of
access each user was given. Data safety procedures were built
in guaranteeing each customer that their data would be safe
from loss due to any catastrophe such as hardware malfunction
or natual disastor. Finally, data security was built in by
encrypting all data before it was transmitted over the Internet.
With all these procedures a customer can feel confident that
an Internet based system is truly safer and better protected
than what it would be if located in their church office or
at home.
IconCMO+ required the inclusion of additional safety
procedures. Procedures that protects a member's data or household's
data from being accessed by church leadership units. Furthermore,
IconCMO+ was developed as a system that is to be used
in a partnership format. This means that agreement by both
a tier unit and a church is required before any aggregate
information from a church can be rolled up into tier reports.
This agreement is made by a tier unit using form that defines
each church in their region. A church gives permission by
filling out parameters on a form in the 'Preferences' section.
